I had only listened to the first 18½ minutes of this vid - not more, and my comment, is for its first part; I haven't listened to the rest.

With most of what you said I agree, However, I completely disagree with you regarding ruling out a candidate, just because he's a pathological asshole, or something:

There is a local version of that prize in israel, named "the israel prize", which is ceremoniously given to people with significant contribution in their field, and a few years back, on 2015 or 2016, they wanted to give the israel prize in Music to one of the most Original and Excellent Creators in Music, the Singer, Songwriter and Composer Ari`él Silber.

Now, trouble is, the said Silber _person_ has pretty much lost it BIG time. I mean, from more~or~less the millennium onwards, the chap has been spewing the WORST sort of racist, homophobic and religious bullshit imaginable, just like the absolute worst of the q-anon crackpots. The guy, to put it simply, had become one huge psychotic fruitcake, who, whenEVER saying anything political, would make you want to put a gas-mask over your ears.

BUT HE IS A GREAT MUSICIAN, quite possibly THE BEST that israel has ever had.

So, my own opinion has always been, then and now, that HE SHOULD RECEIVE THE PRIZE.

As this Prize is NOT for his (obviously psychotic) political opinions and sociopathic ideas, But FOR HIS UNDENYABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE FIELD OF MUSIC.

And we should NEVER mix the two. Neither in favour (ig., giving more weight to somebody's bullshit, just because they won a prize in something), NOR against (unfairly denying someone the Prize they deserve, just because they just also happen to be the hugest jerk on Earth).
