Of course, the Escape from Freedom is a very well known phenomenon, of 21st century society in particular.

They suppress Creativity and Critical Thinking... encourage uniformity and control... = You have just perfectly described the fascists, calling themselves "the democrats" (while, in fact, they are anything BUT).

As psychotic control freaks now thrive at BOTH sides of the spectrum; regardless of their opinions when it comes to abortions, for example, or Trans Rights. And, needless to say: at such a situation, the very ability to debate does completely dissipates, leaving an atmosphere of mutual hatred and fanatic certainty, at which an atrocious civil war would be imminent.

The law has ALWAYS been about Protecting the criminals in power from their own citizens. About fascist oppression.
