About Russian Literature

I *LOVE* Russian Literature, although I confess I know very little still. However, my list is very different... I Love "Мастер и Маргарита", and also liked "The White Guardia", I think it was called? About Family Turbin. Besides, I *Adore* Gogol's comic Story about those two dumb clowns, Ivan Ivanovich and Ivan Nikiforovich. 😂🙃 Gorky is *wonderful,* too, and I LOVED Artsybashev's "Sanin", and really liked Ostrovsky's "Доходное Место" (in spite of his views of women and married life, which I find to be absolutely gruesome and talibanic brrrr). On the other hand, "War and Peace"... well, I like the start, but then, he goes to describe military life (which I absolutely hate to read about, so just skipped it entirely, of course), and, beside - here was Pierre, the very Russian embodiment of Denise the Menace 😅 and, after the guy marries - he's *instantly* being totally castrated and becomes a shadow of a man...😢 That's where I stopped reading it.

And dostoevsky I could never bare, I never touch him, and anyway, his books are *sooo* popular that they're almost certainly bad, anyway.🙂
