SO YEAH!! 10 Common Writing Opinions I Don't Agree With
And my comment:
EXACTLY.
I agree with everything you said, with the strong exception regarding the concept of "teaching writing" and "creative writing schools", where I think precisely the opposite. :-) However, with absolutely EVERYTHING else I totally agree!!
Only poor, miserable and trashy excuses for "writers" believe, that "writing is a job", or that "one should write always, regardless of feelings". It is pure bullshit, of course, since THE ONLY way to write Fiction (of ANY kind), is BY INTUITION. Writing when there is no Inspiration to, leads certainly to bad, worthless drivel, which is, for the most part, wholly unreadable.
All in all, I fanatically believe in ONE MUST WRITE WHAT ONE FEELS RIGHT. This is the reason it can never be taught - writing things like an "assignment" is THE most destructive thing imaginable!!
When I write Fiction, I am, in fact, no more than a pen. The Story writes itself by my hand. I, as the Writer, have absolutely no say whatsoever about it: not about the names, not about the places, not about the events described. I just feel what the next word should be = and write it as it comes; and, if it does not - then it doesn't. If the characters of a certain Book (or Poem or Comedy or whatever) decide to tell me their Story at a given time, I receive and record it, via the action of moving my hand; if they do not, then, of course, their Story shall wait. And of course editing while writing, can sometimes be a very good idea (of course, depending upon the Inspirational circumstances - do not stop a natural flow of words in order to edit them, but, at any given recess - why not?? And of course it is very VERY good, to write more than one Story at the time - as whatever Inspiration shall tell us, we ought to listen and humbly obey it, ALWAYS.
